137. There were 137 blue stripes on my wall. Of course, that's just one wall...weird thing to notice, huh? But when you wake up in the middle of the night from a crazy nightmare, you've got to keep yourself busy. I let my head fall to the side to look at the blaring blue letters of my clock. 3:02 am...great.
I ran a hand through my hair, pulling out the tangles of sleep with a grimace. I could always count the black stripes now...but that would put me to sleep too easily. I was tired of counting, so I dragged myself out of the small bed-a bed that had belonged to me since I was seven, when I actually fit in it-and went to the window.
I loved down the street from Twilight Highschool, so I could afford to sleep in a little later than some of my friends-poor Dem has to ride the bus for an hour every morning. That's why he loved Saturdays...he got to sleep until noon, then stay up all night on Saturdays...heh, some nights we talked on the phone until unreasonable hours of the night, only to call eachother back the next morning.
That always made my brother mad, though. I lived with him along with my mom and sister. He was the most controlling of the three..couldn't stand for me to stay out late. Kuri was also he only one who knew about the nightmares. He has always been there if they got really bad, and laughed at the crazy ones with me. Lately, though...he's had them too.
Kuri told me about his first one. It was about a girl, who he felt so strongly for, he's told every girl since then that he was dating, when he's completely single. He's been weird lately...
I shook my head, pushing these thoughts away. The point of waking up was to stop thinking about the dreams, not dwell on them. By this time, I had laid back down on my bed without thinking about it, and I was getting really comfortable again. Oh, what the heck.
Last night's dream had been the weirdest so far...it was like Kuri's mystery girl, but...switched up. I woke up with my chest aching, and a word...a name...whispering from my lips. It ended up being the same name that swam through my groggy mind as I drifted back to sleep...
Vexel...
I don’t know why I felt such a strong sense of urgency. It was so weird…I was running at top speed towards a door, with no recollection as to why. A red haired man ran next to me, his eyes shining in worry. Despite my confusion, I knew I must have looked the same.
We ran through a large metal door into a large lab, with a gurney in the center and a large tube against the wall that could hold a grown man inside. The room was in shambles-glass littered the floor, and large amounts of an odd smelling chemical covered the tables as well as the floor.
The strangest part of the room was a man sitting on the ground, looking lost. He had blond hair that stuck up all over, much like the man next to me…Axel. The red haired man’s name was Axel. But the blonde’s name didn’t come to mind. His hair had bright red streaks in his hair, which made his eyes stand out: one green, one blue. The green eye had a tattoo underneath it, making him look more like Axel that I thought.
The man’s lips turned up into a grin, before he said something…
“Are you ever going to get up?!”
Huh? He sounded a lot like…oh. The image of the man slipped from my mind as I was forced to open my eyes and see my brother standing above me, scowling. Great…the one dream that I wanted to see the conclusion of was interrupted by the real world. Just my luck.
“Well, are you?” Kuri was frowning at me, shaking me by the shoulder. “As much as I love you, little sister...get the heck out of bed if you want to keep your job.” Kuri had always been very protecting, and now he was driving me crazy with this job thing…I wasn’t late. It was only 10:50, darn it!
As if reading my mind, Kuri rolled his eyes. “You start in ten minutes, genius.”
…Dang.
Demaix’s PoV
I hate Tuesdays. I really do. It’s like…every Tuesday plots against me, so that I have to get up at unearthly hours of the day. Once again, I had all of my classes in the morning, and I couldn’t skip out. Once again, I had to get up every morning at five, to get ready and be in time for class.
At this moment-yes, on Tuesday-I was walking across campus, barely awake and hardly thinking. I had maybe ten minutes to get to class, and even then, the teacher was lenient. Although, since I’m majoring in Music, I guess that’s understandable.
I have one class with someone I actually know-Maxina, in English. We’d been friends since we were kids, so obviously we tried for a college together. The only thing was that I had morning classes, ending at noon. Her classes began at noon, and ended late in the evenings.
I pushed to door to my building open, walking by a few people along the way. There were three men standing there-One had grayish-green hair…which was weird in itself, and freaky purple eyes. He was texting, his eyes glued to an annoyingly bright orange phone. Another had obviously dyed his hair to a bright purple, with orange contacts.
The last had hair that looked like a volcano of pink and blue had exploded on his head. He had a large amount of hair over his left eye, that was blue. The rest of his relatively short hair was a deep pink color.
He glanced at me while I was making the observation, his shockingly blue eyes locking with mine. A lazy smirk appeared on the guys face, and he started looking me over in the weirdest way.
“Me-oww…” He purred-yes, purred, still staring at me with those eyes. “I wanna go to the zoo where that cat came from.”
I felt my own eyes roll at the thought, walking on, only to hear footsteps behind me. Great…Fuzzball was following me.
