Idea: One of our trolls has a weirdly powerful lusus that transports them off of Alternia just before the glub, either dying in the process or leaving itself behind. Sort of a counterpart to Feferi's.

Sort of a counterpart to Feferi's. I'm siding with Quill on this one. Of course, this implies that there must be a reason for why or if it chose our trolls specifically, or if it was doing it of its free will, or if it survived, or if it has ulterior motives. It's a mystery, but it gives our trolls more of a purpose. Also, can we agree not to kill each other without at least letting there be a chase/fight (or a behind-the-scenes agreement)?

But doesn't the glub kill all the trolls in the UNIVERSE? Because the majority of the trolls aren't even on Alternia.

My idea was that one of our trolls hacked into Sollux's computer, pirated a copy of the game, and proceded to play it, not knowing what it really was. However, as the game was incomplete, our trolls got placed into our "debugging medium", and that's the only reason we can talk to them. Well... that was just the notion taht I've had running around in my head for a while, so it's probably completely stupid.

In regards to the glub killing everyone in the universe, that's true, which is why I like Quill's idea, since it makes something of a mystery.

1) Zach: Mar 27, 2011, 1:58pm » To our medium, the game summons a First Guardian (whom I, for lack of creativiy, call Blight).
I talked to Cayley about this and she said that Becquerel is the First Guardian for the Homestuck universe and there can be no other First Guardian. I saw Blight like Jack, a member of one of the courts, got spurned, bluh, bluh. I dunno.
2) The trolls. The friggin' trolls. I liked Cayley's idea about the lusus thing, it is more mysterious. But I feel this could be expanded upon, though, I don't know how, exactly. Also, the existence of the trolls does seem kind of weird to me, we don't really know how to explain it and there should be a good answer.
I'm kind of just thinking out loud.
Also, good communication we got going, good stuff, I love you all.
*Kanna, your little thing was impressive and looked like a lot of fun. <3

Remember, First Guardians are created in the session, and since the kid's session never happens until we cause the scratch, it means we have a different First Guardian. Also, Zach and I discussed, and the game doesn't simply 'summon' the first guardian, at least not directly.

I thought of this.
But now how does this explain Blight?

Explain in what sense?

Well... I sort of figured that, if he wasn't a first guardian, Blight could be a debugging program intrinsic to the game itself. Our session is illegal and, thus, Blight begins the process of clearing out the corrupted data. But it's just an idea, of course.

When I heard the idea, I saw it as this: Blight, with his omniscience, knows that once we start the scratch, he will cease to exist in the restarted universe. However, he is aware that a first guardian has enough power to break causality, and create a new Alpha timeline, but it will mean fighting against millions of stable time loops, so it won't be easy.
Technically, by the documented rules of Sburb, a First Guardian will only enter a session under circumstances wherein the session will be affecting another. In our case, the glitch, which has the potential to spread to other incispheres.
Blight starts destroying as much of Skaia as he can, searching for the source of the glitch, which his omniscience cannot track. Eventually, the glitch starts spreading, and he goes off the handle, with the glitch spreading faster than he can destroy it.
He then steals/seals the Beat Mesa, so the scratch can't occur.
Then A) Stops caring about the glitch, and simply tries to create the new Alpha timeline. B) Tries to destroy our session all at once. C) Simply tries to protect the Beat Mesa.
Being omnipotent, our only chance to beat him is to cause The Scratch.

We have to find some other way to stop Blight than killing him. If we do set out to kill him, we cannot succeed before we cause the Scratch, since the death of the First Guardian marks the coming of Lord English, and we just want to reboot the universe, not destroy it entirely.
Unrelated: It won't be called the Beat Mesa. I dunno what we're going to call it, but it'll be on my planet, I think.

Yeah, the [until we find a fitting name, I'm just gonna call it the 'Scratchifier'] will be on your planet, unless we have reason to believe that Scratch is lying, of course, who's to say if it will stay on your planet?
Anyway, yeah, I doubt we will actually kill Blight, at best, all we can do is subdue him or outsmart him.

I thought our trolls didn't play the game? Or would it be just explaining their past?
Also. Pesterchum. Or not even that. That message I sent you....seriously.
